The Lovingroom Concert Series Fundraiser: From Concrete Floors to Concert Stages

Hi, Avi here, founder of Lovingroomconcerts. Sitting in the front row of a cozy concert is the most beautiful experience on this planet for many people, including me. There is something about the music permeating my body, doing its magic, and leaving me a better person. To this day, I jog my memories of past concerts, stacking them up one after another. It brings a glow of excitement to my face and a warmth beneath my skin. The first time I organized a music event in my living room, it was an open mic on New Year’s Eve of 2021. I was nervous—would the artists want to come? I called each of them personally: Bette, Guido, Akshay, Thomas (my roommate back then), and many more on the sign-up list! The only problem was we had no flooring in our apartment... just bare concrete and no furniture. I picked up some chairs from the neighborhood and we had enough seating for just half of us. We continued with this setup and had a full-blown open mic, with me introducing every artist. In the morning, when Guido was still singing his last tune, I video-called my mum and said: “Mum, look! There is a musician in my living room!” Her reply? “I cannot see the musician, I only see your face!” We have come a long way. I will organize a series of special concerts this year, with special artists, each handpicked by me. The performances will be in two scenic locations at the Public Library of Amsterdam.
